Yag Laser
The Yag laser is a device that delivers laser energy differently from Argon laser, since it emits highly concentrated energy that is mainly used to make tiny holes, so mechanical energy, which can produce small drainage holes on the iris (iridectomies), or on the posterior lens capsule, to clean up the so-called SECONDARY CATARACT (capsulotomy) or else to fragment the unpleasant moving vitreous bodies (floaters), better known as “flying flies” by means of VITREOLYSIS.
These are all parasurgical applications, which means that they are all performed without even touching the eye, or just by resting a lens on the cornea. Therefore, they are characterized by very low invasiveness and speed of execution.
