Microperimeter

Microperimetry is a non-invasive test a non-invasive test that allows studying in detail the central (macular) retinal sensitivity in degenerative retinal, myopic and vascular diseases, correlating the morphological aspect of the retina with the functional aspect. It is also used in the visual rehabilitation of visually impaired patients. It can be considered a valid test for the assessment of the effects of both medical and surgical treatment.

The method of examination, as regards the patient, is like that of the visual field test: he is given a button that he must press any time he perceives a light stimulus.

Microperimetro

The information derived from it is both qualitative and quantitative; in fact, for each light stimulus presented in the various retinal points, the response by the patient is recorded in decibels.

The method of examination, as regards the patient, is like that of the visual field test: he is given a button that he must press any time he perceives a light stimulus. The examination takes about fifteen minutes and is painless. In this regard it should be emphasized that, like the Visual Field Test, the micro perimetry too is a subjective test, i.e. it is influenced by capacity.
